AMERICA/ECUADOR - “Dear Pope, we hope you will be better soon because we boys and girls in Chone want you to be well and hope you will never be ill again. We children of Chone love you and pray for you always": young school children in Ecuador offer simple, spontaneous prayers for the Pope

Chone (Fides Service) - “Dear Pope, we hope you will be better soon because we boys and girls in Chone, want you to be well and hope you will never be ill again because it makes us sad. May God protect you always. Dear Pope the children of Chone love you and pray for you always". Children in many parts of the world are close to the Pope in hospital with deep affection and simple prayers from the heart asking for his complete recovery. This is also true of children at a Catholic school in the Ecuadorian town of Chone. When the teaching Sisters told the children that the Pope was in hospital and needed prayers, they began to pray in their own words. The school Sisters sent Fides a few of these touching prayers.
"Dear God I am praying for Pope John Paul II: make him well again so he can keep on guiding the Church. Protect him please” was the prayer of Johanna Rivas who added: “Dear Pope I want you to know that all children love you". Another little boy said: "Dear God make the Pope better. I am praying for the Pope to take care of himself". Yuber said: “I pray for you Pope John Paul II and I hope you will be better soon ". "I love you with all my heart " said another little boy and Maria Rebeca Reina Pilosa prayed: "Please God make the Pope better". Belén, aged 6: "I am six. I will pray every day for the Pope".
