Cairo (Fides Service)- “Muslims in Egypt are showing concern for the health of Pope John Paul II whom they sincerely respect and admire” Italian Comboni missionary Giuseppe Scattolin an expert on Islam told Fides from Cairo. “People have very happy memories of the Holy Father’s visit to Egypt. His activity to promote dialogue between religions and cultures is highly appreciated and is bearing good fruit here in Egypt” Father Scattolin told Fides. “It is also thanks to the Pope that the Catholic community in Egypt was able to establish such excellent relations with the famous Muslim University Al - Azhar here in Cairo. In fact at the request of the university I am presently giving a course on the Islamic mystic Omar Ibn Al Fared who lived in 1200” the missionary concluded. (L.M.)
