Hong Kong (Fides Service) - Because the Catholic Bishop of Hong Kong Bishop Joseph Zen was not available Fides asked Auxiliary Bishop John Tong how Catholics in Hong Kong had taken the news of the Pope’s return to hospital: “As soon as the first news flashes appeared local Catholics began to pray and spread the news via SMS messages, asking others to join in prayer. We love the Pope and always pray for his health and that he may fulfil his mission. At this time of difficulty we are close to him and pray more intensely for his well being. We will never stop praying for the Pope. We can assure you that Catholics in mainland China are also praying for the Pope. Especially in the province of GuangDong in private and in communities people are offering special prayers, the rosary and novenas”.
