ASIA/CHINA On the Feast of the Chair of Peter Chinese Catholics confirm fidelity and communion with the Pope and the universal Church

Beijing (Fides Service) - This morning on the occasion of the Feast of the Chair of Peter during morning Masses in various churches in China priests encouraged those present to pray especially for the Successor of Peter and the universal Church. The priests also urged Chinese Catholics to maintain their fidelity to the Successor of Peter and preserve their communion with the universal Church. “This may sound strange to Catholics in other countries but for us fidelity to the Pope and communion with the Universal Church is very important” said one local Catholic. "Besides re-affirming our fidelity and communion with the Pope and the universal Church, we noted with satisfaction the maturity and courage of the new generation of priests and religious.
