ASIA/VIET NAM - Archbishop of Hanoi resigns, the Pope appoints new archbishop

Vatican City (Fides Service) - The Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, on 19 February 2005, accepted the renunciation of the pastoral government of the archdiocese of Hanoi (Vietnam), presented by Cardinal Paul Joseph Pham Ðinh Tung in conformity with the Code of Canon Law al can. 401 § 1. The Holy Father appointed Archbishop of Hanoi (Vietnam) Mgr Joseph Ngô Quang Kiêt until now Bishop of Lang Són et Cao Bang and Apostolic Administrator "sede plena" of the same archdiocese. (S.L.)
