AMERICA/BRAZIL - National directors of Pontifical Mission Societies of America and Caribbean to discuss Mission, Globalisation and Migration

Brasilia (Fides Service) - From 1 to 5 March national directors of Pontifical Mission Societies in America and the Caribbean will meet in Brasilia to reflect on three important topics: Mission, Globalisation and Migration. Father Daniele Lagni, national director PMS Brazil who represents national directors in Latin America and the Caribbean, told Fides special guests will include the members of the National Mission Council, the Secretary General of the Brazilian Bishops’ Conference, the President and the bishop members of the Brazilian Bishops’ Commission for missionary activity and inter-church cooperation, as well as missiology experts.
The meeting will open with a solemn concelebration of the Eucharist presided by Papal Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Lorenzo Baldisseri. The theme for reflection Mission, Globalisation and Migration will be illustrated by Rev. Paulo Suess, Missiologist and President of the International Association of Missiologists together with Sr. Rosita Milesi, of the Brazilian Bishops’ Mission Service and Rev. The national directors will discuss the situation on the continent of America to identify common lines of action in various areas:
• Missionary youth: situation, challenges, suggestions, prospects, organisation in keeping with the 2nd American Meeting of Missionary Youth, (II ENAJOMIS) and the 3rd Latin American Meeting of Lay Missionaries (III ENCLAT) held 10 - 14 November 2004 in Caracas (Venezuela);
• Missionary junction, common lines of action for missionary animation and formation;
• Exchange of experience, material, produced by different countries for Missionary Childhood, Missionary Youth etc.;
• Preparation for CAM 3, in Ecuador in 2008, and participation of missionary children;
• Suggestions for mission Congresses at the national, regional and diocesan and national group level (Cono Sud, Andes, Central America, Caribbean and Antilles, north America);
