VATICAN - Pontifical Council for Pastoral Care of Health Workers starts plenary assembly on 20 January

Vatican City (Fides Service) - The Pontifical Council for Pastoral Care of Health Workers will holds its annual plenary assembly 20 and 21 January at the Nova Domus Santa Marta in the Vatican, Mgr. Antonio Soto, secretary of Cardinal Lozano Barragan, President of the Council told Fides on the telephone this morning.
“The Plenary will open at 8am with a Mass presided by Cardinal Barragan”, Mgr. Soto said. “The objective of our meeting is to examine our 2002-2007 work-plan. The participants, about forty council members and consultors will examine what has been achieved so far in the 53 programmes planned. Our programmes are divided in 3 Ministries: the Ministry of the Word: 11 programmes; the Ministry of Sanctification: 6 programmes; the Ministry of Communion: 36 programmes. With regard to the latter it is important to mention the work of the Good Samaritan Foundation, recently instituted, to identify and meet the most urgent needs with regard to AIDS and distribute resources according to needs all over Africa” Mgr.
