On Thursday 20 the programme foresees social work in public squares, children’s homes, homes for the elderly in various parts of the city. The day will conclude with a Prayer Vigil for Peace and Reconciliation through the night until 6 the next morning when the young people will take part in a March for Life which will end in Plaza Pacifico with a solemn Mass. The afternoon of Friday 21 will be devoted to formation and in the evening there will be the Stations of the Cross. On Saturday 22 there will be various formation workshops (prayer, Bible study, music, psychology...) and recreational activities and a Gran Peña Folclorica with the title "Latin America, sing and dance for Peace!". On the last day Sunday 23 January the young people will have a meeting with the Bishop to present him with the conclusions of their work. At 12 noon there will be the closing Mass.
The initiative aims to promote integration in Latin America removing barriers between sister countries. These events of authentic brotherhood first started with Bolivia and Chile, after which the Youth Pastoral delegation of Arica extended the invitation to Sister Churches. The 1st meeting was held in Arica (Chile) in February 1994; the 2nd in Oruro (Bolivia) in May 1998. This 3rd meeting has the support of the National Youth Pastoral Commission of the Chilean Bishops’ Conference. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 11/1/2005; righe 25, parole 358)
