Sindhupalchok District (Agenzia Fides) - In the remote area of Kiul, in Nepal, the devastation caused by the strong earthquake that struck the Country in April and May 2015 continues to make the living conditions and access to education for more than one million Nepalese children difficult, who have no access to indoor classrooms, they are continually distracted by helicopters flying over the skies that try to leave aid. Kiul is located in the district of Sindhupalchok, one of the most severely affected, where 95% of schools were destroyed. Despite the collapse of much of the infrastructure, teachers and students are determined to go ahead. As in other quake-hit areas of Nepal, children do lessons in makeshift classrooms, makeshift tarpaulins. Relief agencies also built temporary classrooms, made of bamboo, large enough to accommodate two classes. In addition, some children are forced to attend lessons among the rubble of their former schools. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 08/09/2015)
