Manaus (Agenzia Fides) - "Church and mining activity - in defense of life and territories" is the title of the book published on August 17 by the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops (CNBB) together with the "Iglesias y Mineria" Latin American Network. The publication presents a series of articles and testimonies that act in defense of life and the territory due to the consequences of the mining activity. The volume describes the Brazilian experiences of common resistance and the search for solutions that promote justice, inclusion and environmental sustainability of mining companies.

The book was presented during two very special events: in Manaus, during the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network (REPAM), by the Archbishop of Huancayo (Peru) and chairman of the Department of Justice and Solidarity of the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM), His Exc. Mgr. Pedro Barreto Jimeno (see Fides 13/08/2015); and in Brasilia by His Exc. Mgr. Guilherme Werlang, Bishop of Ipameri (Brazil) and President of the Episcopal Commission for the Pastoral Care and service of charity, justice and peace of the CNBB. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 19/08/2015)
