Tuesday, 21 July 2015

Santiago del Estero (Agenzia Fides) - Organized by the National Commission for Missions and the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Argentina, the fourth National Meeting of Missionary Groups will take place in Santiago del Estero from October 10 to 12, whose theme will be "Mission, a way of life". The overall aim is to confirm the identity of missionary groups and increase their involvement in the Church.
According to information sent to Fides, the specific objectives are: to highlight the specific role of missionary groups within the mission of the Church; encourage missionary groups to be the first leaders of the mission in their communities; increase the sense of belonging to the Church and their ties with the Pontifical Mission Societies; deepen the universal dimension of the mission.
The National Meeting of missionary groups brings together members and animators of missionary groups from around the country, from parishes, ecclesial movements, colleges, religious congregations ... The participants aim to share their faith in Jesus and their experience as his missionary disciples as well as to reflect on their specific vocation in the Church. They also want to analyze the problem and the urgency of proclaiming the Gospel to all, both at home and beyond the borders.
The first meeting of this kind was held in Posadas in 1991. Since then, missionary groups began to organize themselves as a team of diocesan missions. In 1998 the second national meeting was held in Salta and, after 12 years, the third meeting in the Diocese of San Miguel. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 21/07/2015)
