AFRICA/SIERRA LEONE - Elevation to the episcopal dignity of Apostolic Administrator of Makeni

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On July 18, 2015 the Holy Father raised Rev. Fr. Natale Paganelli, S.X., Apostolic Administrator of Makeni (Sierra Leone) to the dignity of bishop, assigning him the titular see of Gadiaufala.
Rev. Fr. Natale Paganelli, Xaverian, S.X., was born on December 24, 1956 in Grignano of Brembate, Diocese of Bergamo, Italy. He attended the local primary and secondary school (1962-1970) and secondary school in Cremona (1970-1974). He then entered the Theological Xaverian school in Parma, where he completed his studies in Philosophy and Theology (1975-1981). He professed his first vows on August 31. He was ordained a priest on December 25, 1980 in Parma.
After his ordination, he spent 22 years as a missionary in Mexico, before going to Sierra Leone in 2005. He has served as: 1981-1982: Spanish language Student in Mexico; 1982-1985: vocations promoter at the Xaverian Minor Seminary of San Juan del Rio (Mexico); 1986-1992: Rector of the Minor Seminary of San Juan del Rio (Mexico); 1992-1994: Vice-master of novices in Salamanca (Mexico); 1990-1996: Deputy Regional Superior in Mexico; 1996-2002: Regional Superior in Mexico; 2002-2004: Preparing to leave for the missions in Sierra Leone; 2004-2005: Studied English in London; 2006-2007: Assistant priest in Madina, diocese of Makeni, in Sierra Leone; 2007: Regional Superior of the Xaverian of Sierra Leone.
