Friday, 10 July 2015

Beijing (Agenzia Fides) - To improve the knowledge of faith and promote active participation in the liturgy, thus allowing a quantum leap in spiritual life, as every year many Catholic communities, in this period of school holidays, have launched pastoral summer initiatives for teenagers and young students.
Among the information gathered by Agenzia Fides, we report the Diocese of Zhou Cun, in Shan Dong Province, which has launched several summer catechism classes for elementary and secondary school students, and university students, with specific programs for various ages. For students who have just completed their final exams, courses of liturgy and faith formation have been organized, while summer camp has started for university students, like every year. The various initiatives include the promotion of vocations and the sharing of experiences of faith with seminarians.
Before the start of the pastoral summer activities, the priests and religious women of the diocese followed a specific training to meet the needs of children of different ages. According to the organizer, "daily Mass, community life, formation ... are activities that enable our children to develop a consciousness of the Christian community and the sense of gratitude for having received the faith and the sense of service in the Church and social life, becoming witnesses of faith since childhood".
