AFRICA/NIGERIA - New attacks of Boko Haram: a mosque and a Protestant Church

Abuja (Agenzia Fides) – At least 44 dead and 48 wounded is the provisional toll of the twin bombings perpetrated on Sunday, July 5 in Jos, capital of Plateau State (in north-central Nigeria), attributed to Boko Haram The first explosion occurred at a quarter past nine in the evening near the local university. The second shortly after, near the mosque in the neighborhood of Yantaya, where Imam Sani Yahaya Jingir preaches and who has long spoken out against the Islamist group.
A few hours earlier in Potiskum, an important commercial city in the State of Yobe, a suicide bomber killed five worshipers in the Redeemed Christian Church of God. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 06/07/2015)
