Monday, 6 July 2015

San Fernando de Apure (Agenzia Fides) - The incessant flooding caused by the rains three weeks ago, have left about 35,000 people isolated in Guasdualito, a city in the Venezuelan state of Apure. 9000 families have been affected. The overflowing of the Arauca and Sarare rivers flooded 90% of the areas. The lack of electricity and means of transport forces many to evacuate. Several families are refusing to leave their homes. Three military transport planes have brought 28 tons of food, 15,000 liters of water, medicine and other supplies to meet the emergency. In the State of Táchira over 12,000 people living in villages may remain isolated if the stretch of road between San Cristobal and the parish Francisco Romero Lobo continues to collapse.
