Beijing (Agenzia Fides) - To serve the Church becoming witnesses of faith and love with a life dedicated to the Lord: this is the common thought of the new priests and new deacons ordained in this period, as well as the religious women. Among these, according to information gathered by Agenzia Fides, the diocese of Xian Xian (today Cang Zhou), one of the largest dioceses in mainland China, on June 11, the feast of Barbaba, celebrated the ordination of six priests. Nearly two thousand faithful attended the solemn ceremony, which took place in the Cathedral, concelebrated by 153 priests.
The Archdiocese of Xi An instead ordained a deacon named Antonio, in the Cathedral dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, on the day of the liturgical feast of the saint, June 13. Being a Franciscan mission, the devotion to St. Anthony is in fact very much alive in this diocese. His Exc. Mgr. Dang Ming Yan, the diocesan Bishop, who presided over the ordination in front of more than a thousand faithful, encouraged the new deacon to "always follow Jesus, consolidating one’s faith and that of others, giving witness to charity and spreading the gospel with love".
During the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart, on June 12, the diocesan Congregation of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the diocese of Nan Chang, in the province of Si Chuan, welcomed a new nun, committing herself before the Bishop and superior, to "serve the Church in order to bear witness to Christ in the consecrated life".
