Kuala Lumpur (Agenzia Fides) - "Christians for Peace and Harmony Malaysia" (CPHM) is the name of a new group that will strive for dialogue and the building of a peaceful and reconciled society in Malaysia.
As reported to Fides, the group will seek a relationship with the most fundamentalists Islamic groups such as "Perkasa", who accused Christians of proselytizing among Muslims.
The president of the new group, Rev. Wong Kim Kong, announced that the group will work with the government to promote understanding and harmony among believers of all religions. One of the first activities in program is a panel discussion on human and religious values of Muslims and Christians, organized with the support of Muslim scholar prof. Hashim Kamali who heads the Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS). The overall objective is to "play a role in engaging and sensitizing society at different levels". Rev. Wong said he met many Christians who have expressed their support for the movement, in order to involve all citizens in promoting peace and harmony. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 18/06/2015)
