AMERICA/HONDURAS - "With courage and more faith": Danilo Aceituno lived at the service of God and of the Church

Suyapa (Agenzia Fides) - Two huge banners with his image and his famous phrase "with courage and more faith" were placed on both sides of the altar of the Shrine of Suyapa, during the funeral of Danilo Aceituno, the most famous Catholic communicator in Honduras, who died at 56 years of age. According to information sent to Fides, with which Aceituno was in contact, the funeral was held yesterday, May 20, with a large participation of the Catholic community. The auxiliary Bishop of San Pedro Sula, His Exc. Mgr. Romulo Emiliani presided the mass, and was concelebrated by the Bishops of Santa Rosa de Copan and Choluteca, His Exc. Mons. Darwin Rudy Andino Ramírez, C.R.S., and His Exc. Mgr. Guy Charbonneau, P.M.E., as well as numerous priests and deacons.
In his homily Mgr. Emiliani recalled Danilo as a man with a great and sincere smile, a man who lived at the service of God and of the Church. At the end of the celebration a message was read, sent from Rome by Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, Archbishop of Tegucigalpa, where he recalls Danilo’s commitment and his fight for the evangelization of Honduras.
Danilo Aceituno died on the morning of May 19 of liver cancer discovered only a few days before. He graduated in medicine, he preferred to abandon this profession and became a journalist and presenter at "Radio Catolica": his program "La Voz de Suyapa" was heard across the country. He collaborated with several newspapers and lately also with Suyapa TV. He was married and had four children, he was the best known correspondent of the Catholic media in the world. Among the most important Catholic events transmitted in Honduras commented by him: the last World Youth Day, the canonization of John Paul II and the appointment as Cardinal of Mgr.
