AMERICA - Message of the XXXV General Assembly of CELAM: "Living a missionary conversion as a church which goes forth"

Saturday, 16 May 2015

Santo Domingo (Agenzia Fides) - The translation of the New Testament of the "Bible of the Church in America" (BIA), the creation of the Pan-Amazon ecclesial network (REPAM) to respond effectively to the challenges of the Amazon, the "fruitful missionary experience that was raised during the V Conference of the Latin America and the Caribbean Episcopate in Aparecida", are the main themes of the final message of the XXXV Ordinary General Assembly of CELAM.
Signed by the new president of CELAM, Cardinal Rubén Salazar Gómez, the document summarizes in 10 points the commitment of the Church in Latin America for the period 2015-2019.
The message reaffirms the missionary spirit of the Church because it states that it continues the commitment of the Continental Mission: "we will invite all the local churches to live a real missionary conversion, insisting on the example of Pope Francis about a church which goes forth".
