ASIA/PHILIPPINES - The construction of a new shelter for the poor has begun

Manila (Agenzia Fides) - The construction of a shelter for the poor has just begun by the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) in Tayuman, north of Manila. The center called "Arnold Janssen Kalinga sa Kapuwa" will be located in a corner of the Catholic Trade Center complex. As stated by the Secretary of the mission and the Coordinator of Justice and Peace of the SVD Central Province in the Philippines, Fr. Flavie L. Villanueva, the poor will be able to eat and have restrooms with toilets and showers. The initiative was inspired by the Year of the Poor that the Filipino Church is celebrating in 2015.
