Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On September 19, 2014 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr. Kurian Emprayil, Jesuit (SJ) as Rector of the preparatory "Christu Jyoti Gurukul" Seminary in the Diocese of Simla-Chandigarh (India).
The new Rector belongs to the Jesuit Province of Calcutta. He was born on February 23, 1954 in Kerala and was ordained a priest on 29 April 1985, he professed his final vows on February 28, 1993. He holds a Masters in Social Work at the Tata Institute in Mumbai. Initially he served in the field of social work then was appointed head of the Jesuit community of the novitiate and the juniorate in Dhyan Ashram.
For several years he was the Coordinator for the formation of the province, accompanying young people in their philosophical and theological studies. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 21/04/2015)
