ASIA/SYRIA - Bombings on Christian neighborhoods in Aleppo, also two young Salesian animators killed

Tuesday, 14 April 2015

Aleppo (Agenzia Fides) - The fierce ongoing war in Syria "has hit the children of Don Bosco again". This is what the Salesians of the Middle East write in the statement which reports the news of the death of two young brothers, Anwar Samaan and Misho Samaan, Salesian animators, along with their mother Minerva, caused by a rocket which hit their house on 10 April.
"Anwar and Misho - reads the text, sent to Agenzia Fides - spent their childhood and youth in the house of Don Bosco, and as animators they have left in the soul of many a sign of joy and love of life". Anwar was 21 while Misho was 17: two young men were cut down in the prime of life.
Local sources said the launch of intense grad missiles happened between Friday 10 and Saturday, April 11 on the districts of Aleppo which has a significant presence of Christians. The missiles in those neighborhoods, controlled by the government army, caused at least 20 deaths.
On April 7, the operator of Caritas Syria Safouh Al-Mosleh had been killed by a rocket that had hit his house, located in the Farhat square area, where Greek-Catholic, Armenian and Maronite cathedrals are concentrated (see Fides 9/4/2015). (GV) (Agenzia Fides 14/04/2015)
