AMERICA/PERU - Children forced to attend classes under trees infested by wasps

Thursday, 9 April 2015

Chiclayo (Agenzia Fides) - In the city of Chiclayo, in the Peruvian region of Lambayeque, over 50 children aged 3 to 5 are forced to attend school lessons under some trees infested by wasps. Teachers reported to RPP Noticias that, due to lack of classrooms, children are forced to attend lessons outdoors under trees full of honeycombs, with the risk of being stung by wasps. Children run and play, without thinking of the danger to which they are exposed every day. For this reason, parents have urged local authorities to promptly resolve the problem.
