ASIA/CHINA - Even the "24 hours for the Lord" in the Lenten journey of the Chinese Catholics

Tuesday, 17 March 2015

Shi Jia Zhuang (Agenzia Fides) - Catholics in mainland China are preparing themselves for Easter, following the indications of the Lenten Message of Pope Francis. According to information gathered by Agenzia Fides, the diocesan community of Ji Nan, which is dedicating the month of March to St. Joseph, experienced the initiative called "24 hours for the Lord", on 13 and 14 March, as a sign of its great devotion toward the Saint. About 400 faithful from different parishes went on a pilgrimage to the diocesan Shrine dedicated to St. Joseph both to respond to the Pope’s appeal to live this day of preparation for Easter and to express the fraternal life of the community. At the end of the pilgrimage the faithful attended the Eucharistic adoration and Mass.
Even the diocese of Feng Xiang, led by His Exc. Mgr. Lucas Li Jing Feng, experienced the "24 hours for the Lord". All the parishes, including the Cathedral, promoted the Eucharistic adoration so that "the globalization of indifference disappears" starting from their own communities.
All the priests of the Diocese of Nan Chong, seminarians and nuns, lived together the "24 hours for the Lord" within the diocesan retreat, held from March 10 to 14. During the retreat they were also able to listen to a reflection on the Pope's Message for the Year of Consecrated Life. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 17/03/2015)
