Maumere (Agenzia Fides) - "For the first time in the history of the diocese of Maumere, Flores island, Indonesia, the World Day of the Sick was celebrated, on February 11, in the Cathedral, with a solemn Eucharistic Liturgy presided over by the Bishop, His Exc. Mgr. Kerubim Pareira, SVD". This is what Fr. Luigi Galvani, MI, says to Agenzia Fides. "The ceremony, well prepared by the seminarians of the Camillian community, saw the presence of hundreds of sick and faithful and ten concelebrants who, together with the Bishop, administered the Sacrament of the Sick to hundreds of sick people. The Camillian presence is always appreciated by the local Church which sees in the spirituality and charism of St. Camillus a new inspiration in the exercise of the ministry of the Gospel of charity".
"The sick and elderly, more than 300, received medical attention by a dozen doctors and nurses, with the collaboration of our young seminarians" highlights the Camillian missionary. "The commitment of our religious for future years is to expand more and more the Camillian charism in all 17 000 islands of Indonesia, considered a fertile country with promising and missionary religious vocations" concludes Fr. Galvani. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 13/02/2015)
