ASIA/JORDAN - CCSM denounces offensive drawings of Lord Jesus Christ on hookahs

Tuesday, 10 February 2015

Amman (Agenzia Fides) - The Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM) in Jordan denounces steps undertaken by some companies in which immodest and indecent drawings depicting Lord Jesus Christ are posted on hubble bubbles (hookahs) that are sold to the public or used in cafes.
"Many Christians - refers the director of CCSM, Fr. Bader to Agenzia Fides - have been greatly offended by this "depiction" and several calls have been made expressing denunciation and condemnation. The CCSM is also astonished to learn that such stuff is being imported at a time when the world strives to intensify efforts designed to ban defamation of religions, and to renounce any reference to religious symbols in a heinous way". In a statement released today and sent to Fides, the CCSM asks the competent authorities to withdraw all this stuff from the market, to damage it, or delete the inscribed sacred drawings and reserves the right to initiate legal proceedings against the import and marketing of such products.
