Chimbote (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Angelo Amato, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, will be in Peru in August, in the diocese of Chimbote, for the beatification of the three missionaries declared martyrs: the Franciscans (OFM) Michele Tomaszek and Sbigneo Strzalkowski, Polish, and the Italian diocesan priest, Alessandro Dordi, killed by the terrorists of the Shining Path on 9 and 25 August 1991 in Pariacoto and Rinconada (see Fides 9/08/2011, 04/02/2015).
The announcement was made yesterday during a press conference, by the Bishop of Chimbote, His Exc. Mgr. Francisco Simon Piorno, according to the note sent to Fides. "It is a great satisfaction, and we thank the Lord for these three priests who served the villages of Pariacoto and Santa, but unfortunately had to give their life in a climate of such violence - said Mgr. Piorno. We thank God because now we have the first martyrs of our diocese and in Peru". (CE) (Agenzia Fides 05/02/2015)
