Bangui (Agenzia Fides) - The Bishops of the Central African Republic note with satisfaction that there is an improvement regarding the food situation and security in some cities of Central Africa. This emerged on Sunday, January 11, during the homily of the Mass celebrated for the closing of the Plenary Assembly of the Episcopal Conference. During the Mass, celebrated in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of Bangui, presided by His Exc. Mgr. Thaddée Kusy, Coadjutor Bishop of Kaga-Bandoro, the Bishops launched an appeal for mobilization for social cohesion.
"The message the Bishops want to give is a message of peace and hope titled 'choose life'" said Fr. Joseph Tanga-Koti, head of the house of formation of the Society for African Missions in Bangui. "The bishops - continues the priest - urge us to engage resolutely in favor of life to rebuild Central Africa, where everyone, Muslims, Christians, animists can live hand in hand".
As a concrete gesture of reconciliation, during their plenary assembly the Bishops met with prisoners of camp Ngaragba, where several former Seleka rebels are held, accused of atrocities against civilians. The Bishops brought the prisoners clothing and food and spent some time with them. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 13/01/2015)
