Monday, 22 December 2014

Chilpancingo (Agenzia Fides) - "With the desire to continue to be close to the parents of the students who disappeared in Iguala (Guerrero), Monday, on December 22, the Apostolic Nuncio in Mexico, His Exc. Mgr. Christophe Pierre; the Archbishop of Acapulco, His Exc. Mgr. Carlos Garfias Merlos, and the Bishop of Chilpancingo-Chilapa, His Exc. Mgr. Alejo Zavala Castro, will celebrate a Mass in Ayotzinapa at 9 am, to pray God for the students who disappeared, for their families, and for justice, reconciliation and peace in Mexico". This is the text of the statement sent to Fides by the Mexican Episcopal Conference, which once again emphasizes the closeness of the Church to the families of the 43 students of the Rurale School of Ayotzinapa, kidnapped on September 26 by members of the local police and suspected criminal groups (see Fides 10/10/2014). To date, their fate is still unknown. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 22/12/2014)
