EUROPE/ITALY - Course for priests on Satanism, exorcism and prayer of liberation

Monday, 13 December 2004

Rome (Fides) - Satanism aims to overthrow and destroy values inscribed on the human heart regardless of culture or religion. It aims to spread confusion among young people to build a sort of “contrary society”, with no moral rules where evil becomes good and good becomes evil. In fact the main symbol of Satanism is the cross up side down. This expresses the overturning of those universal values intended to unite humanity: peace, hope, solidarity, brotherhood, no divisions or borders.
This is connected with another delicate matter: diabolic possession. In recent years a certain cinema culture offered a distorted and superficial view of this matter increasing confusion with regard to an important figure in the Catholic Church, the Exorcist. This is a problem which many priests encounter in their pastoral ministry .
This is why the Institute Sacerdos of the Regina Apostolorum College and GRIS (Group for research and social-religious information ) organised a theoretical and practical course on the ministry of the exorcist: “Exorcism and Prayer of Liberation”.
The course is only for priests and students with a licentiate in theology preparing for the priesthood. The course will run from 17 February 2005 to 14 April 2005, at the Pontifical Regina Apostolorum College in Rome and also in parts of Italy via videoconference. The purpose of the Institute Sacerdos at the Regina Apostolorum College is ongoing spiritual, pastoral, intellectual and human formation of priests.
