Friday, 19 December 2014

Rabat (Agenzia Fides) - One hundred thousand Moroccan children have not been attending school since November due to severe floods and heavy rains that have hit southern Morocco, severely damaging bridges, roads and infrastructure. This situation has forced the closure of 622 schools in the provinces of the south of the chain of the Atlas, desert areas that are not used to so much water. In total 1,853 schools have been severely damaged, including 1,172 primary schools. Between November 20 and December 1, 47 deaths were registered and an unknown number of people have disappeared because of the collapses that occurred. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 19/12/2014)
