AMERICA/MEXICO – Conclusion of the 10th "Caravan of hope": 9 missing migrants found

Saturday, 13 December 2014

Mexico City (Agenzia Fides) - The tenth caravan of a group of 40 Central American mothers ended on December 7th, who after 17 days of travel managed to find nine migrants.
The note sent to Fides reports of cases like that of Delmi María Valle Zúñiga who returned to see her son José Valle, 16 years later; Maria Luisa Herrera Hernández, who was three years old and knew nothing of her family, was found in Tapachula by the Caravan; Leonila managed to find her brother Oswaldo, after 17 years of separation.
According to Martha Sanchez, head of one of the Mesoamerican Migrant Movements, some causes that push people to migration are: "the levels of violence, corruption and impunity that leaves victims with no access to justice".
The caravans are composed of mothers from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua (see Fides 17/10/2012)". (CE) (Agenzia Fides 13/12/2014)
