EUROPE/SPAIN – Fund raising Christmas markets in aid of HIV positive and abused children in Zimbabwe
Melilla (Agenzia Fides) – In view of Christmas, various fund raising events are organised by associations of volunteers and NGOs. Manos Unidas Catholic NGO in Spain has this year organised in Melilla a Christmas Market to collect funds for a project in a Catholic parish in Zimbabwe to improve the lives of some 2,000 children some HIV positive others victims of abuse. The handiwork market will be open from 9 to the 14 December. Some 15 Manos Unidas volunteers, expert seamstresses will make and sell household items, such as aprons, table cloths, towels as well as hand decorated plates and toys. The book will be another major protagonist in this initiative. For several years this Christmas Market has collected and sold hundreds of second hand books at very low prices, not only to collect money for the programme of formation and assistance for children victims of abuse , but also to spread awareness that there are so many people need in so many parts of the world.
