ASIA/CHINA - The Year of Consecrated Life begins: witnesses of hope in the future

Xi An (Agenzia Fides) - Remember the past with a heart filled with gratitude, live the present with zeal, have hope for the future: these are the three main objectives for the Year of Consecrated Life highlighted by His Exc. Mgr. Antonio Dang Ming Yan, Archbishop of Xian, in the province of Shaan Xi, in mainland China. According to information sent to Agenzia Fides, the Archbishop opened the Year dedicated to Consecrated Life, in full communion with Pope Francis who proclaimed it and with the Universal Church, on Sunday, November 30, the first Sunday of Advent. In his homily, he mentioned among other things the Apostolic Exhortation on Consecrated Life of St. John Paul II, asking the religious to live the prophetic and charitable mission, and to be witnesses of hope for the future. The Archbishop also asked the faithful laity to "dedicate themselves more to the people who live the consecrated life, offering their support, prayers and attention, to promote together the diocesan pastoral".
Even the parish of Long Gang of the Diocese of Wen Zhou, solemnly celebrated the opening Year of the Consecrated Life, on Sunday evening, November 30, with more than 1,200 faithful. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 02/12/2014)
