Beijing (Fides Service) - “The Immaculate Conception increases our devotion to our heavenly Mother” a Chinese priest very devoted to Mary told Fides. Wherever he is sent for pastoral work he always builds a little grotto of Lourdes in honour of the Blessed Virgin.
Thanks to his devotion there are statues of Our Lady of Lourdes at the parish of the Holy Saviour, at St Michael’s parish and at the Catholic cemetery in the outskirts of Beijing.
After 18 years of priesthood his devotion to Our Lady continues to grow and it has influenced his parishioners. He explains: “My devotion stems of personal experience. I think that when a person comes to the parish and the first thing he sees is a statue of the Blessed Virgin, he feels at home. Mary is like a mother with her arms outstretched. I have always told my people that the Church is a family and without a mother it would not be a family. The Immaculate Virgin Mary is always ready to welcome us and comfort and console us ”.
