AMERICA/MEXICO - The Bishops to the families of the students missing: "Hope pushes to keep fighting"

Monday, 3 November 2014

Guerrero (Agenzia Fides) - "Letter to Families of students killed and kidnapped in Ayotzinapa" is the title of the message of the Bishops of the Ecclesiastical Province of Acapulco (Archdiocese of Acapulco, Diocese of Chilpancingo Chilapa, Tlapa and Ciudad Altamirano), approved by the Bishops Conference of Mexico, which encourages them to live their faith in these tragic moments without succumbing to violence. "United in pain and suffering, we greet you so you can feel our comfort and our hope, along with feelings of sympathy for the disappearance and death of your children, on September 26, in the city of Iguala" begins the text, which was sent to Agenzia Fides.
"We encourage you to continue to look ahead. You have to keep walking because God always has good things for his children. Have hope because hope pushes to keep fighting, to continue to live with dignity, to continue working for a better world", the text continues.
"As Bishops of the Catholic Church, we want to be attentive to your needs, such as those of thousands of families who in recent years have experienced situations like yours, such as kidnappings, extortions, forced displacement and death of a member of family. We are committed to supporting them in their faith, to experience comfort and hope, in order to be able to forgive, and heal wounds and anger that have blossomed in your heart".
Agenzia Fides received other messages of solidarity and hope, regarding the students missing, sent to the population by Cardinal Francisco Robles Ortega, archbishop of Guadalajara (Jalisco); by His Exc. Mgr. Antonio González Sánchez, the Diocese of Ciudad Victoria (Tamaulipas), and by His Exc. Mgr. Siegfried Noriega Barceló, from the diocese of Zacatecas. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 03/11/2014)
