Monday, 27 October 2014

Brasilia (Agenzia Fides) - Brazilian incumbent President Dilma Rousseff has been re-elected for a second four-year term and garnered 51.64% of the votes so far, while Aécio Neves has 48.36%.
The persons entitled to vote were 142. 822 046, the votes which were held valid were 105 538 630. The turnout was 78.9%, abstentions 21.1%. Dilma won in 15 states, Aecio in 12.
The note sent to Fides from a local source points out that the Brazilian President will have to face a severe economic recession, due to corruption scandals and the growing discontent of the population, especially after the well-known popular demonstrations in June 2013, when protesters clashed with police in several cities to protest against the waste of public money for the World Cup instead of improving public services.
