AFRICA/MADAGASCAR - Appointment of the Rector of the Theological Major Seminary "St. Therese of the Child Jesus" in the Archdiocese of Antananarivo

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On March 31, 2014 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Abdon Rafidison of the archdiocesan clergy of Antananarivo as Rector of the Theological Major Seminary "St. Therese of the Child Jesus" in the Archdiocese of Antananarivo (Madagascar).
The new Rector was born on August 16, 1968 in Ambohipo Antananarivo and was ordained a priest in Amparibe on 6 September 1997. He graduated in Theology at the Institut Catholique de Madagascar (2000) and obtained a doctorate in Church History at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (2011). After his ordination, he served as assistant pastor and pastor in several parishes. He currently teaches at the Catholic University of Madagascar, at the Faliarivo Major Seminary of Theology (Antananarivo) and the Major Seminary of Philosophy Manantenasoa (Antsirabe).
