ASIA/NEPAL - The Apostolic Vicar: "With the Rosary, we will overcome the difficulties"

Thursday, 2 October 2014

Kathmandu (Agenzia Fides) - Pray the Rosary incessantly and with faith: is what the Apostolic Vicar of Nepal, His Exc. Mgr. Paul Simick, said to the faithful at the beginning of October, in his message for the month of Mary. The text of the message, sent to Fides, says: "October is a month full of feasts in Nepal. Our Hindu brothers celebrate at least six major religious feasts during the month. For us Catholics, October is the month of Mary. It is a month reserved to the Holy Rosary. We venerate the Blessed Virgin Mary, through the powerful and contemplative prayer of the Rosary".
The Bishop recalled that Pope Benedict XVI said that "the Rosary is not a pious practice banished to the past, but lives a new spring time". "When one prays the Rosary - says Mgr. Simick – one relives the important and meaningful moments of the history of salvation.
With Mary the heart is oriented toward the mystery of Jesus. Christ is put at the center of our life, of our time, of our city, through the contemplation of the holy mysteries of joy, light, sorrow and glory".
The message reminds the faithful: "Only by praying the rosary and asking for Mary's intercession we will be able to overcome the difficulties we are experiencing as individuals, as families, as a Church, as a society and as a nation". In these turbulent times, "Mary is our hope and companion, with her we will win the battle against the forces of evil", he says. The Bishop invites the Nepalese faithful to recite the Rosary every day for peace, for the unity of Christians, for those who suffer for the good and for the future of Nepal.
