AMERICA/BRAZIL - Elections of October 5: corruption enters the electoral debate

Aparecida (Agenzia Fides) - Corruption scandals involving state oil company Petrobras entered the debate sponsored by the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil, which was attended by eight of the eleven presidential candidates (See Fides 02/09/2014) .
President Dilma Rousseff, who seeks re-election, and the opposition leader Aecio Neves (Social Democrat), have accused each other on this point. While the environmentalist Marina Silva in a run-off with Rousseff accused the President and Neves of not presenting a program of governance.
Former President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva took to the streets to support the incumbent President and member of the Workers Party (PT) Dilma Rousseff.
On October 5, Brazilians will vote to elect the President, Vice President, Governors, one-third of the senators, deputies and federal government. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 18/09/2014)
