Friday, 12 September 2014

Ouagadougou (Agenzia Fides) - Despite having solemnly celebrated the feast of St. Camillus on July 14, the camillian vice province of Burkina Faso wanted to conclude the celebration of the fourth centenary since the death of the saint with a solemn ceremony on September 6. The sons and daughters of St. Camillus joined the young men and women who have consecrated their lives to the Lord through the profession of vows. "The assembly was packed with faithful, friends and relatives of the newly professed – says to Fides Agency father Salvatore Pignatelli, a missionary Camillian doctor who has been working in the African country for many years. The Daughters of St. Camillus - continues Fr. Salvatore - joined us and professed their temporary vows. On the same occasion two men and a nun instead celebrated twenty five years of religious life.
The second part of the conclusion of the fourth centenary was on the morning of 8 September, the inauguration of a street in the city of Ouagadougou dedicated to St. Camillus. The municipality dedicated a street to the great Saint of charity right next to the Medical Center, a street that has seen in the almost fifty years, hundreds and perhaps hundreds of thousands of patients who went to the medical center run by the sons and daughters of St. Camillus, for comfort and a cure for their illnesses" concludes Father Pignatelli.
