AFRICA/ZAMBIA - Appointment of the Rector of the "St. Augustine" philosophical interdiocesan Seminary in Kabgayi

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On January 10, 2014, Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Fr. Patrick K. Simutowe, of the Society of the Priests of Saint Sulpice (SS) as Rector of the "St. Augustine" philosophical interdiocesan Major Seminary in the diocese of Kabgayi (Zambia).
The new Rector was born in Isoka on August 8, 1968. After primary school he attended the St. Augustin Major Seminary in Mpika and the St. Dominic Major Seminary in Lusaka. He was ordained a priest on August 4, 1996 for the Diocese of Mpika. After his ordination he carried out his pastoral ministry in a parish, then entered the Society of the Priests of Saint Sulpice. He continued his studies in moral theology in Baltimore and Rome (Alfonsianum) and obtained a doctorate. Among the positions held: assistant priest, director for vocations and youth coordinator of the Diocese of Mpika, rector of the Emmaus Spiritual Center in Lusaka, formator and professor at the St. Dominic Major Seminary in Lusaka.
