AFRICA/BURUNDI - Appointment of the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On October 28, 2013 Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed rev. Salvator Ngendabanyikwa, of the Diocese of Ruyigi as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Burundi for a five-year period (2014-2019).
The new National Director was born on 27 May 1969 in Gitaramuka and was ordained a priest on August 26, 2000 in Ruyigi. After primary school he attended the minor Seminary in Dutwe and Mureke, then the Saint Curé d'Ars Major Seminary in Bujumbura and that dedicated to John Paul II in Gitega. He then studied dogmatic theology and obtained a licentiate at the Pontifical Urbaniana University. After his ordination he worked at the Minor Seminary in Dutwe and was a pastor. After his studies in Rome, he was appointed Secretary General of the Episcopal Conference of Burundi and Professor at the John Paul II Major Seminary in Gitega. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 07/05/2014)
