AFRICA/LESOTHO - Resignation of the Bishop of Mohale's Hoek and appointment of successor

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On February 11, 2014, the Holy Father accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the Diocese of Mohale's Hoek, Lesotho, by His Exc. Mgr. Sebastian Koto Khoarai, O.M.I., in accordance with Canon 401 § 1 of the Code of Canon Law. The Holy Father appointed Rev. Fr. John Joale Tlhomola, S.C.P., Director General of the Secular Institute Servants of Christ the Priest, in Hammanskraal, Archdiocese of Pretoria as Bishop of the Diocese of Mohale 's Hoek.
Rev. Fr. John Joale Tlhomola, S.C.P., was born on March 12, 1966, in Pulane Ha Mosiuoa, District of Berea, Archdiocese of Maseru. After his primary and secondary studies, he entered the Novitiate in the Secular Servants of Christ the Priest institute in Hammanskraal (1987-1988), of which he is currently the Director General. In 1989 he professed his first vows and in 1995 his perpetual vows. From 1995 to 1996 he was a formator at St. Ambrose Pre- Seminary, and in 1997 he was in charge of the pastoral care of Our Lady of Victories Cathedral. On 28 March 1998 he was ordained a priest.
After ordination he has held the following positions: 1998-2001: Assistant priest at the Cathedral in Maseru; 2001-2003: Priest in charge of the same Cathedral; 2003-2010: Pastor of Christ the Priest Mission, Motsekuoa, in the Diocese of Mohale's Hoek; 2010-2011: Treasurer of the St. Augustine Major Seminary and Professor of Liturgy and Spirituality in the Preparatory Seminary in Lesotho; since 2011: Director General of the Servants of Christ the Priest, in Hammanskraal, Archdiocese of Pretoria.
