Rome (Fides Service) - The volume in English presents the last ten Pontificates from Pius IX to John Paul II covering the period since the Church was deprived of temporal power. It describes the lives of the Popes with details on activities and teaching and gives an overall vision of the respective pontificates. Each Pope in his own way preserved even at the most crucial times which threatened to undermine the solidity of the Church providential serenity and balance and the book reveals how each contributed towards building the “civilisation of love”.
