Wednesday, 20 November 2013

Hassaké (Agenzia Fides) - A team of National Defence Forces - the army loyal to the regime of President Assad - raided the headquarters of the Assyrian Democratic Organization of Hassaké, in the northeastern Syrian province of Jazira, arresting two local leaders of the organization. We are talking about Snjer Dasho (55 years old) and George Odisho (28 years old). The news was given by official sources of the organization, consulted by Fides Agency. The raid took place on Tuesday evening, November 19. The two militants were taken and so far the location of their destination has not been notified.
The Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO) is one of the symbols that represent the Assyrian and Syriac small Christian component within the Syrian National Coalition. In recent days, the leaders of the ADO had signed a statement denouncing the absence of Christian leaders in the "ad interim" government formed by nine ministers and established on 12 November by the Syrian National Coalition at a meeting in Istanbul.
The Assyrian Democratic Organization was born in Syria in 1957 as a political movement aimed at achieving national aspirations - political, cultural, administrative - of the Assyrian people. (GV) (Agenzia Fides 20/11/2013)
