Vatican City (Fides Service) - “Not even death can break God’s covenant with mankind”, the Pope said in his reflection before the Angelus prayer on Sunday 7 November. Addressing those present in St Peter’s Square who had come to pray with him and receive his blessing, Pope John Paul II voiced concern for the news coming from Ivory Coast and he appealed for dialogue and peace. Greeting a large group of visitors from Poland the Pope said: “Today Poland celebrates the Day of Care-Homes, with the motto “Even a Care-Home is life”. The care which staff and volunteers give to the incurably sick and the dying is a great work of mercy. May God reward their love and dedication with abundant grace. I entrust to Most Holy Mary also those who look after suffering members of their family.”
