Ankara (Agenzia Fides) - The reform package recently presented by the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will allow to carry out election campaigns in Armenian. According to reports from local news sources, the ban on electioneering with languages other than Turkish will be removed. In this way, politicians of Armenian origin rooted in different regions of Turkey may turn to voters in the language used in the family.
Several measures contained in the package of "democratization" defined by Erdogan at the end of September are presented as aimed at raising the standard of the rights enjoyed by ethnic and religious minorities, beginning with the Kurds and Armenians. Among the reforms there is also included the suspension of the ban to use the Islamic veil for public employees and permission to educate students in their native language.
