AFRICA/ETHIOPIA - Appointment of the Coadjutor of the Apostolic Vicar of Soddo

Vatican City ( Agenzia Fides) – The Holy Father, on 11 October 2013, appointed Coadjutor of the Apostolic Vicar of Soddo (Ethiopia) Rev.do Tsegaye Keneni Dérera of the clergy of Addis Ababa, Vicar General of the Apostolic Vicariate of Nekemte, assigning him the titular see of Massimiana of Bizacena.
Rev.do Tsegaye Keneni Dérera was born on November 23, 1943 in Metcha Borodo, in the Apostolic Vicariate of Nekemte. After primary and secondary schools in his village, he attended the first year of Philosophy at the PP. Vincentians (C.M.). Later, he was sent to Rome, at the Pontifical Ethiopian College, and studied at the Pontifical Lateran University. After his ordination, on July 13, 1976, he completed his postgraduate studies at the Institute of Pastoral Theology of Loyola University in Chicago (USA). Since his ordination he has had the positions: 1976-1999: Chancellor of the Curia in Addis Ababa; 1985-1998: Vicar General of the same Archeparchy; 1991-1999: Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat in Addis Ababa; 1994-1995: Master in Pastoral Theology at Loyola University in Chicago; 1999-2008: executive Secretary of the Episcopal Conference of Ethiopia; 2007-2010: project Director of the Catholic University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Ethiopia; since 2012: Vicar General of the Apostolic Vicariate in Nekemte.
