Caracas (Agenzia Fides) - From 10 to 14 November in Caracas the 2nd American Meeting of Young Missionaries and the 3rd Latin American Meeting of Lay Missionaries will “define, animate and promote the identity of young missionaries in America in the Pontifical Mission Societies, offer guidelines to render missionary youth in America ready for mission ad gentes, examine and improve mission formation for youth as established by the previous meetings of these two bodies”, Father Luis Alberto Piñango Dominguez national secretary of youth mission JOVENMISIÓN in Venezuela, told Fides, explaining that the event is organised by the National Office of Youth Missionaries of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Venezuela in co-ordination with national offices for youth mission in the other countries of America .
The themes of the meeting are the following: The PMS and Missionary Youth; Missionary Formation for Youth; Continuity in American Meetings of Young Missionaries. The programme includes conferences, discussion, work groups as well as a youth pilgrimage, missionary rosary, youth missionary exhibition, initiatives of missionary animation.
To facilitate logistics the organising committee established a set number of participants per country to make a total of 150 young people from all over America as follows: Argentina 6, Bolivia 6, Brazil 6, Canada 12, Chile 6, Colombia 7, Costa Rica 7, Cuba 6 Salvador 6 , Guatemala 6, Haitì 6, Honduras 6, Messico6, Nicaragua 6, Panama 6, Paraguay 6 , Peru 7, Puerto Rico 6, Dominican Republic 6, Uruguay 6, Ecuador 8, United States 6, Venezuela 10.
